The Winnebago County Historical & Archaeology Society is pleased to invite you to a very special event as we dedicate a new historical marker recognizing Delhi & the Effigy Mounds, one of Winnebago County's most significant historic and archaeological sites.

Years in the making, this marker represents the dedication, research, and collaboration of many individuals committed to preserving and sharing the rich history of Winnebago County. We are excited to celebrate this milestone with our members and the community.

Long before Delhi became a frontier trading settlement along the Fox River, the area was an important gathering place for Indigenous peoples and remains closely connected to the story of the Effigy Mounds.

During the dedication, you'll witness the unveiling of the new marker and enjoy a presentation exploring the history of Delhi, the significance of the Effigy Mounds, and why July 17 holds special meaning in the story of this remarkable place.

Following the dedication, please join us for light refreshments, conversation, and the sharing of memories as we celebrate the history of Delhi and the Effigy Mounds.
